Kris Leigh interview with Alexis Chambers on 01/12/2024
Alexis Chambers: Hello, Kris! Thank you for taking the time to chat with me today. To start off, can you tell us a bit about your journey as a writer and what initially inspired you to pursue a career in writing?
Alexis Chambers: That's fascinating, Kris. It sounds like writing has been a therapeutic outlet for you, allowing you to navigate through life's challenges and express your thoughts and emotions creatively. Can you share a bit about your creative process? How do you approach writing a new book or poem, and what inspires your ideas and themes?
Kris Leigh: I'd love too. With the poetry, it's very easy and I usually just write it without much thought. The book is a lot different. I use paper and pen or a word processor to figure out the story in much detail before writing. However. Most of the time, it never goes according to plan by the end of the book and I have something that is even new to myself.
Alexis Chambers: It's fascinating to hear about your approach to writing, Kris. It seems like poetry flows naturally for you, while your book writing process involves more meticulous planning and exploration. Can you tell us about any specific experiences or moments in your life that have influenced your writing style or the themes you explore in your work?
Kris Leigh: Everything has. From my childhood with only my mother, to my journey through parenthood and marriage. It all plays a part in my poetry and writing.
Alexis Chambers: It's clear that your life experiences have deeply shaped your writing, Kris. Drawing from such personal moments undoubtedly adds depth and authenticity to your work. Now, let's talk about your books. Can you tell us about some of your published works and what readers can expect when they pick up one of your books?
Kris Leigh: Ah, well, my books are very intense with emotions. You can't help but get caught up in the story with the characters because of how relatable they are. In my very first published book, 'Haunting echoes: A Legacy Begins' every character will have you rooting for them to survive. My next books were the "Friends Forever' trilogy. In that one, the rollercoaster of emotions even had me feeling so deeply that I cried a lot throughout and smiled like an idiot writing at my desk.
Alexis Chambers: Your books sound incredibly engaging and emotionally resonant, Kris. It's evident that you pour your heart and soul into your writing, creating characters and stories that captivate readers and evoke strong emotions. Can you share any insights into your future projects or upcoming releases? What can readers look forward to from you in the near future?
Kris Leigh: Of course. I plan to revise all of my covers and re-publish all twenty plus of my books and this summer, I will have a new book and my very first solo book of poetry coming out. I am also working towards a book tour starting on the east coast and then the middle and then the west before moving on to travel the world.
Alexis Chambers: That sounds like an exciting lineup, Kris! Readers will surely be eagerly anticipating your revised editions, as well as your upcoming book releases and poetry collection. And a book tour across the country and beyond sounds like an incredible opportunity to connect with your readers on a more personal level. Thank you so much for sharing your journey and insights with us today. It's been a pleasure chatting with you!
